Good Night James

James Robert

December 15, 2004 to November 23, 2007

Psalm 139: 1-18

O Lord, You have searched me and You know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue You know it completely, O LORD.
You hem me in - behind and before; You have laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You.
For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with You.

The day has come for James to finish his bath and to be tucked into his final bed. Our Almighty God has relieved James from his struggles and sickness, and called him to further Glory. And so in the next few days we will prepare to lay his body to rest, knowing that he already has eternal rest. Our comfort is knowing that "When I awake, I am still with You."

In a few days we will plant a seed...

Dear Rob & Stephanie, Marietta, Rebecca, and Matthew,

We are so sorry that the long journey with James' disease has ended thus, but are comforted in knowing that this was God's design even from the beginning. May He continue to grant you much grace and strength in the days and months ahead as you learn to live with James in your memories instead of in your arms.

We pray that the Almighty who now cares for James in His most wonderful way in heaven will also surround you all in His love, as you deal with this loss. We commend you all into God's loving hands.

Rob and Steph, we praise and thank God for granting James the peace and rest he so desperately needed, and for the surety that James is with Him.

At the same time, we are heartbroken that you must now face life without your dear son, and that your other children will grow up missing their brother.

May the God of all comfort be your strength in the coming days.

We have been following your story through this blog. What a great deal you have been through. We have seen with you how our LORD has been with your family and given you what you needed through all your trials. We are so very sorry to hear of your loss, especially as our youngest is only a few days younger than James. We can only imagine how you are feeling right now. What a comfort to have faith in times like this, and to know that James' suffering is over, that he is in heaven with God and that you WILL meet again. We will continue to bring your family before our Father in prayer. May He give you comfort and healing.

We have seen and witnessed how the LORD has provided for you in these difficult weeks and we are comforted that He will also continue to do so in the days ahead. May the LORD use what He has given in James for the glory of His Name.

Dear Rob, Steph & children,
We are so saddened for you with the loss of James. He will be so surely missed by you as parents and his sisters and brother. But James has gained so much, life with his Loving Jesus who has His arms wrapped around him. What a comfort to know that. How we all long to be in that place. May God give each of you strength to deal with James' loss in the days, weeks, months ahead. May you also receive peace knowing that there is no more suffering for your gorgeous little boy.

Reading about James' progress and struggles every day has been a guide for our prayers every day. Now though with James safe in God's arms with Jesus at his side, We pray for you all. May His Spirit stay with you and give you the strength you need to say good-bye to your son. Words can not express how we feel for you in this time of deep loss. Our very best wishes are inadequate for you - but we will interceded on your behalf.
