Short Lived Freedom

Well, only about two minutes after I published my last blog the nurse shows up to tell me that they received James' stool test back and he has tested postitive for C. Diff (or Clostridium difficile cytotoxin).

What does this mean? I don't know you yet, but I do know that it means that we are now on contact restrictions ... or isolation. Anyone who comes in the room has to wear gowns and gloves and James will no longer be allowed out of his room ... now who wants to explain that to him after nap?? Not me!!

The doctor has been informed and we're waiting to see what they plan to do. In the meantime I better go search the playroom for something to keep this boy busy ... now that he's been having a bit more freedom he's a bit harder to keep entertained.

I like the new look for the blog! (I usually read through Google Reader so I don't actually visit the blog often). Sorry to hear about the C. Diff. Since I was hospitalized 3 times last year I was tested the last two times before admission for C. Diff - apparently it is easily picked up during a hospital stay??? You gotta love the bugs you can pick up only in a health care setting. Doesn't make you feel real good... I hope you can get somewhere with TO's GI doctor! Hopefully s/he proves to be much better than Mac, similar to your lung specialist situation. And I really hope things move along for Tuesday. It is no fun waiting around. Keeping you in our prayers!

What a disappointment to learn of James' C. Diff. diagnosis. It leaves you shaking your head and saying "what next?"

But we also know that the Lord does not test us beyond what we can manage. And you are proving that you can manage A LOT.

You all are doing such a wonderful job of caring for James, studying up on the various and sundry things that keep cropping up and maintaining a positive attitude throughout.

We continue to lift you up in our prayers and hope that the C. Diff. diagnosis will not impede James' treatment further.
